Are you considering moving to the beautiful, thriving and industrious state of Tasmania? We look at some of the great reasons to move here and answer your Frequently Asked Questions.
We had a lovely day trip recently, from Hobart to the Tasman Peninsula. Dale’s brother and his family (who live in Launceston) were spending a few days down there and we took the opportunity to head there for the day to catch up with them all and to also reacquaint ourselves with the area. The drive from Hobart to Port Arthur was around 100km and took us 90 minutes from Sandy Bay.
When you are searching for a rental property it is good to have your documents in place so that you are ready to apply for a property as soon as you find one you like. There are some differences in what property managers will want from you, but this posts goes through what you are most likely required to provide for each adult who will be living at the property.
Are you wanting to rent a house in Tasmania and have pets? Perhaps you are a landlord and are considering letting a tenant have pets in your property. The short answer is that in Tasmania you can’t charge a pet bond. You are only entitled to charge a bond equal to 4 weeks rental regardless of whether the tenant has a pet or not.
Launceston has a population of around 100,000, so it is a regional city. I think it’s greatest advantage is that if you want a rural lifestyle you can have it and still be within 15-20 minutes of the city centre if you choose. Of course you can go even further afield if proximity to the city is not as important on a regular basis. Alternatively, a city or suburban lifestyle means you are always close to everything in Launceston as it is pretty compact.
When you start to think about moving to Tasmania it is likely that you are unsure about where to live.
Of course, people move to Tasmania for many reasons and being clear on the reason is often a great place to start in determining where best to base yourselves. Some people I talk to have yet to decide on the region to live in, much less narrowing it down to suburbs or towns. Others know the region or city but still have lots of questions about how to then narrow down the choices. Even though Tassie is small, there is still lots of choices of where to live and many different lifestyles you can create for yourself.
