Well I must admit that my favourite wine is champagne (the real French variety) followed by quality sparkling and Tasmania does very well with the sparkling wines.

I have just found out (and already booked for Jo and I) that Cool Wine in Criterion Street Hobart is having a sparkling wine and champagne tasting on Sunday 11 December. This event is only held once a year and gives you a chance to taste 22 different sparkling wines and champagne. It sounds really worthwhile and if you enjoy sparkling wine and champagne then I encourage you to visit their website and learn more about the event. The cost is $15 per head and we may see you there!

Cool Wine – TMG Wines Pty Ltd

They also have free wine tastings nearly every Friday and Saturday so when you visit their website you should send them an email and get added to their email newsletter and they will let you know about the tastings each week.
Update – Just a report on the tasting and the shop itself.

Tim, the owner, was a great host and we had a very enjoyable time. The different sparklings were fantastic and it was great to taste some French Champagnes as well.

There were some regular wine tasting event customers there and it seems the regular events are great fun and well worth going to.

We of course bought some sparkling and champagne so will enjoy some over the Christmas period.

Let us know what you think of sparkling and champagne and we can highly recommend Cool Wine.
